Help support the revitalisation of Penzance and Newlyn
Two local organisations, charged with managing the development and delivery of investment projects funded by Government’s Town Deal and Future High Streets Funds are looking to recruit new Board members. This is an exciting opportunity to help contribute to the successful delivery of projects which can make a real difference to the regeneration and economic resilience of Penzance and Newlyn.
If you know the Penzance area well and are able to volunteer some of your time to champion and oversee the funded projects being delivered to revitalise the area, we want to hear from you.
The Town Deal Board was established in 2020 when Penzance & Newlyn were invited to apply for Town Deal funding. The Board was successful in attracting £21.5m funding for 7 investment projects designed to support regeneration and economic growth. Having secured funding, the Board is now responsible for overseeing effective delivery of those projects. The Board also oversees delivery of projects funded by Future High Streets Fund which support town centre revitalisation.
The Board is looking for new committed individuals who live or are closely connected to the parish (Penzance, Newlyn, Gulval, Eastern Green, Heamoor, Mousehole and Paul) and who support and can contribute to the aims and regeneration projects set out in the Town Deal Town Investment Plan.
The board is particularly interested to hear from individuals with:
- A commitment to champion the green and sustainability agenda
- Communications and marketing skills
- Knowledge of community engagement
- Experience of working in the private, public or voluntary sector
We are seeking appoint 5 Board members: to replace members standing down after their initial three-year term; to ensure representation across the business and wider community; and to broaden the range of skills available to the Board.
This is a voluntary role and in addition to a quarterly Board meeting is likely to require a commitment of 5-10 hours per month.

The Penzance Regeneration Company “PZRC” is a newly established not for profit company, set up by Penzance Town Deal Board in 2022. PZRC’s role is to effectively manage and deliver four key Town Deal/ Future High Streets funded projects including acquiring land/buildings for the projects.
The founding Board Directors have appointed a project management company with the right level of expertise and experience to secure successful project delivery and work is now under way.
PZRC is looking to appoint 3 or more independent directors who can provide additional scrutiny and advice to the Board. We are looking for people who live in or have close connections with Penzance and Newlyn; support the aims and regeneration projects set out in the Town Deal’s Town Investment Plan; and who can collectively bring the following experience and skills to the Board:
- Working at Board/Steering group level in the private, public or voluntary sector;
- Delivery of large projects;
- Business development and management;
- Private/public/voluntary sector partnerships;
- Change management; and
- Communications and community engagement.
This is a voluntary role and in addition to a two-hour bi-weekly Board meeting is typically likely to require a commitment of 10 – 20 hours per month.
