Update on Market Jew Street highways works
Works on the Town Deal funded Sustainable Travel Network project on Market Jew Street are continuing to progress.
Following an unprecedented delay in the delivery of new granite materials last month, the delivery plans for the project were unavoidably revised by CORMAC to focus on the works at the bottom of Market Jew Street. Although this has resulted in less of a workforce presence through the entirety of the street over the past few weeks, such action ensured that the delivery of the scheme could progress whilst the supply issues were addressed.
Although not fully resolved at this time, recent deliveries of granite over the past few days will ensure project delivery momentum is maintained. CORMAC continue to actively monitor the situation with their suppliers and will constantly review and adapt their delivery plans as the materials arrive.
CORMAC remain committed to delivering this long-awaited scheme in-line with the original schedule of 28 November. Although this is subject to the actual granite delivery timings, we are confident that this can be achieved.
We would like to reiterate our thanks to the BID and its members, Penzance Town Council and the broader community for their continued support. We recognise how disruptive town centre works such as these can be and appreciate that any changes to the plans are unwelcome.
All partners remain uncompromisingly committed to delivering a positive outcome for the town and thank you for your understanding through this challenging situation.
