Apply now for the Penzance Town Deal Enterprise Grant Scheme and boost your business

Are you looking for funding to develop your business or a project that could benefit the economy of Penzance and Newlyn? The Town Deal Enterprise Grant Scheme is now reopening for application on Tuesday 21st November.

Following the success of the first round of the £2.45 million Penzance Town Deal Enterprise Grant Scheme, applications for the second round are reopening for small to medium sized businesses based within the Penzance Town Deal area.

If you are seeking investment to expand or diversify your existing business, or you are an entrepreneur looking to turn your ideas into reality, you could be eligible for funding from for the Town Deal enterprise grant Scheme.

• Capital grants of £2,500 – £50,000 available for small to medium-sized businesses and organisations within the Penzance and Newlyn Town Deal area.
• The deadline for applications is midnight on Monday 22nd January.
• For this round of the scheme, priority will be given to projects that support:
  • Empty buildings turned back into commercial use
  • High street vitality and streetscape improvement
  • Experiential tourism

Grants can be used for capital projects, such as building works and new equipment.

Round 1 saw applications received from a range of local businesses and organisations. To date 23 grant awards to businesses have been approved totalling £370,000. These included grants to:

• Equipment to expand and diversify business offerings
• Retail shop and hospitality venue expansion
• Improvements to the façade of high street buildings

Martin Tucker Chairman of the Town Deal board said: “The board is really pleased to see how the Town Deal Enterprise Grants project has already started to benefit businesses and entrepreneurs in Penzance and Newlyn. Louis Gardner, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for economy, said: “The Enterprise Grant scheme is one of seven projects which are being funded by the Government as part of the £21.5 million Town Deal Fund for Penzance and Newlyn. Boosting the local economy and supporting business and quality employment is one of the Town Deal Fund’s key objectives and I am pleased to see it has started to make a difference locally.”
