Cornish developer Treveth is inviting the local community to a final public consultation event to view the emerging proposals for the Coinagehall Street redevelopment and to have their say on the draft plans for a key area of the town centre.

The last public consultation event will be held on Monday 17^th July 2023, 10:30am to 7pm, at The Exchange, Princes Street, Penzance, TR18 2NL. The drop-in event is an opportunity for the local community to find out more about Treveth’s proposed plans for Coinagehall Street and St Anthony’s Gardens, and to discuss them with the team behind the project.

This is the third in a series of public consultation events that have been staged throughout the design process in order to incorporate the local community’s comments and feedback at every stage as the design has evolved.

New material will be available to view which demonstrates how Treveth’s designs have progressed since the last consultation event in May. Attendees will be able to see how feedback collected at the extensive consultation events has influenced design changes, and boards will be on display to highlight what the development could look like alongside Treveth’s approach to sustainability and its ethos for delivering homes for local people where they are much needed.

There will be an opportunity to submit feedback at the event or complete an online questionnaire at www.treveth.co.uk/coinagehallstreet. The consultation website and questionnaire will be live from Monday 17^th July 2023 to Friday 28^th July 2023.

Treveth’s plans have been met with great interest from the local community with approximately 400 people attending the last public consultation event in May, and 374 survey responses. The majority of those who have completed the survey support the redevelopment of the former Taylor’s Garage site and St Anthony’s Gardens, and would like to see a wide range of commercial uses on site.

Since its launch in 2019, Treveth has been building high-quality new build homes, sustainable communities, and commercial developments in partnership with Cornwall Council to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall. The Coinagehall Street project will see Treveth bring forward much-needed new homes for local people, including both affordable and open market rentals.

Playing its part in shaping Cornwall’s communities and places positively to benefit local people, Treveth’s Coinagehall Street project will include the regeneration of St Anthony’s Gardens, funded by the Future High Streets Fund as part of the Government’s Towns Fund initiative. Key historical features will be retained whilst providing a better public realm and useable open space which will be enjoyed by local people and visitors alike.

Plans will remain consistent with the Neighbourhood Development Plan and the town’s aspirations for the regeneration of the site. Treveth has undertaken extensive consultations with the public, the Local Planning Authority, Statutory Consultees such as Historic England, and the South West Design Review Panel. The Cornish developer is aiming to make a planning submission by summer 2023 once the public consultation period has ended on Friday 28^th July 2023.

The proposals for the Coinagehall Street site are hugely important in delivering on the ambition to improve the economic future of Penzance by including the infrastructure to support new jobs, as well as new homes for local people and the regeneration of St. Anthony’s Gardens, to make the experience of working, living in and visiting the town desirable and accessible.”

Founded by Cornwall Council in 2019, Treveth now manages 78 properties across three developments and 45 units across six commercial sites. Building homes for people who live, work in, or have family connections in the immediate vicinity of its sites, Treveth was established to improve the quality of rented accommodation and to increase the availability of homes across the rental, shared ownership, and private rental sectors. Treveth currently has over 300 homes in build for local residents in Tolgus, Liskeard and Bodmin.

It has successfully managed and sold properties transferred from Cornwall Council which now boast thriving communities. These include Heathlands View, Bodmin; The Coppers, Tolvaddon and Tregover, Newquay.

Treveth acquired the site at Coinagehall Street from Cornwall Council under a Subject to Planning Contract in late 2022.
